The Wernhil Christmas Wish List 2021 Story

The Wernhil Christmas Wish List 2021 Story

Wernhil has made it its mandate for the past six years to make lasting and meaningful contributions to people’s lives. The Christmas Wish List 2021 competition again proved the warmheartedness and commitment Wernhil has in putting smiles and tears of joy on valued shoppers.

The competition draws the attention of children between the age of 6-12 years and, it was a fulfilment to see the top ten finalists receiving their gift hampers. Eight-year-old Gabriel Marks, our overall winner, showed a sense of selflessness and empathy in his story that truly touched our hearts.

Gabriel has a 12-year-old brother Dadiva, who is autistic; he can hear but has difficulties to speak. Out of kindness and love, Gabriel entered the competition and wished for a digital tablet for his brother to make it easier for him to learn and communicate with his family.

To Gabriel and Dadiva’s surprise, Wernhil made their wishes come true with a twist of fun and excitement.  When the Wernhil Centre Management team was in the process to purchase the digital tablets for Dadiva and Gabriel from one of its valued tenants, namely Supatronix, the owner of the shop was so overwhelmed about the heartwarming story that he sponsored the second tablet including two tablet covers and two funky smartwatches for kids. So, both, Dadiva and Gabriel received a tablet and a smartwatch. The generous sponsorship of Supatronix resulted that Wernhil still had some funds left and thus, was able to purchase the much-needed school stationeries for the new school year for both children as well as a soccer ball.

The Markus family couldn’t contain their excitement when they heard the news, but the surprises didn’t stop there.  The Wernhil Team has noticed that Dadiva has a good taste in classical music, so Wernhil added an extra special surprise of a guitar and piano for children for him to enjoy and enhance his musical talent.  Dadiva was ecstatic with joy and immediately showed us a trick or two of keys and strings, a true Rock Star. Wernhil would like to thank and appreciate Supatronix for their kindness and generosity they have shown by their charitable donation. It wouldn’t have been as fun and rewarding without you.

Because it is the time of giving, every year, Wernhil also donates to two underprivileged schools in the Havana area in Katutura: Monte Christo Project Primary School and Dr. Abraham Iyambo Primary School. Both schools will receive a donation of their choice to the value of N$6,000.00 each. This year the Monte Christo Project Primary School whished for a projector including a portable screen for teaching and hosting parent meetings and the Dr. Abraham Iyambo Primary School wished for cupboards to store their pupil’s books. The Wernhil Centre Management is currently busy with the procurement of the goods as well as the arrangements for the official handover to the schools.

We are looking forward to this year’s Christmas Wish List edition and can’t wait to reward our next little Wernhil shopper.
