In the early 1990s, Ben Filmalter and his wife Judi discovered a unique Chicago coffee shop on the South Side, renowned for its spirit of generosity. Ben channelled this ethos to open the first Mugg & Bean in 1996 at Cape Town’s V&A Waterfront, emphasising generous portions from day one. Among South Africa’s first, it introduced bottomless coffee to delight every guest.
